Ferret fans will love this beautiful slinky and butter-soft ferret puppet! Slip your hand through the opening in his chest to work his mouth and let him weasel a smile out of you. Additional rear pocket for extra wriggling!
The ferret (Mustela putorius furo) is the tame form of the European polecat and has lived alongside people for more than two thousand years. Its long, supple body on short legs is built for narrow tunnels, and that build is exactly why it was once sent down burrows to move rabbits along. Being a strict carnivore with a gut that empties in a few hours, it needs many small meals spread across the day. Ferrets sleep away most of the daylight and make up for it with furious activity in their waking hours. The nose leads the way, while the eyes are best at picking up movement in dim light.
Did you know that ferrets have worked as cable layers? Because they will follow any pipe to its end, handlers tied a line to a harness and sent them through ducts no person could reach. At CERN in the 1970s a ferret called Felicia drew a cleaning swab through the pipes of a particle accelerator.
