As weather warms and nature awakens, the full-body Folkmanis bear cub puppet invites you to come out and play! This friendly bear has a movable mouth and forepaws to give you big bear hugs and kisses.
Brown and black bears (Ursidae) inhabit the forests, mountains and tundra of the northern hemisphere, and as omnivores they get by almost anywhere. Berries, roots, grasses, ants and migrating salmon make up most of the diet, and a bear's nose will lead it to a scent from kilometres away. Cubs are born in midwinter deep in the den, blind, nearly bare and weighing only a few hundred grams. Come spring the mother leads them out of the den, and by following her they learn which plants are edible and where fish can be caught. They stay with her for two summers before going their own way.
Did you know that bears walk on the whole sole of the foot, just as we do? That build gives them a steady footing, and it is why a bear can rise onto its hind legs without effort. It does so not to threaten, but to catch a scent on the wind and see further.
