Folkmanis Moose Hand Puppet (Stage Puppet)

Majestic in appearance and impressive size, the Folkmanis Moose Stage Puppet has expressive eyes and movable mouth for nostalgic puppet play.

The moose (Alces alces) is the largest deer alive, and an old bull stands up to two metres at the shoulder. The heaviest animals live in Alaska and eastern Siberia and can top six hundred kilograms. It lives in the conifer forests and bogs of North America, Scandinavia and Siberia, favouring ground where water meets young tree growth. Willow shoots, birch twigs, bark and, in summer, great quantities of water plants make up the diet, stripped from the branch by an overhanging upper lip. Unlike red deer it keeps no herd, moving alone or as a cow with her calf. Only bulls carry the palmate antlers, casting them in winter and growing a fresh set by the following summer.

Did you know that a moose can dive? It will go down several metres after water plants and stay under for close to half a minute. Water pressure squeezes its large nostrils shut on the way down, so it never has to close them deliberately.
