Folkmanis Blue Three-Headed Dragon Hand Puppet

As anyone with a sibling knows, brothers and sisters sometimes don't get along! How much harder would it be if you were attached, and could breathe fire? Find out with this three-headed dragon hand puppet. Just slip your hand inside from underneath to animate the arms and all three heads, then let the bickering begin. (The hand puppet is played with like a glove.)

Many-headed monsters turn up in the legends of almost every culture. The Greek Hydra of Lerna grows two new heads for every one struck off, until Iolaus sears the wounds shut. The Russian Zmey Gorynych carries exactly three heads in most tellings and guards the Kalinov Bridge over the river Smorodina. The Book of Revelation, in turn, sets a dragon with seven heads and ten horns against the archangel Michael. On the puppet stage it becomes something else entirely: three heads, three opinions and one body that has to agree with itself.

Did you know that the Hydra still survives in everyday speech? A hydra problem is one that reappears in two new places as soon as it has been solved in one. Zoology borrowed the name as well: the freshwater polyp Hydra really can regrow a whole animal from the smallest fragment.
