Folkmanis Raccoon in Garbage Can Hand Puppet

Who’s that masked creature making all that racket? The raccoons must be looting the trash again. Even if he is spending too much time in the can, you won’t mind when you see this adorable creature peeking out from under the lid. Little raccoon says, please recycle!

The raccoon (Procyon lotor) originally comes from North and Central America, where it favours woodland near water. In the 20th century, animals from fur farms and deliberate releases reached Europe, including an area near Kassel in Germany. A stable population then spread from there across large parts of Central Europe. Raccoons now rank among the most adaptable mammal species to have settled outside their native range. In towns they shelter in attics, barns and, of course, bins.

Did you know that raccoons are known for their ability to thrive in urban areas by using human waste as a food source? These clever animals have learned to open garbage cans to access leftover food, earning them the nickname "night bandits."
