Little Folkmanis characters for St Nicholas’ Day
In Germany, children put their freshly cleaned boots outside the door on the evening of 5 December, and by morning St Nicholas has filled them with nuts, tangerines and a small surprise. A mini finger puppet fits in easily, and a small hand puppet can wait beside the boot.
Finger puppets for the boot
The mini finger puppets are small and light, and ready to play the moment the boot has been unpacked. Folkmanis makes them as lots of different animals, from the bee and the ant to the fox and the hedgehog, and on to the narwhal and the manatee.
Small stage puppets
Some animals come as a small stage puppet, made especially for children’s hands. The hand goes into the puppet from below, as with a Punch and Judy puppet, so it can be raised above the playboard of a puppet theatre. Without a theatre, it works just as well. The choice includes a fox, a mole, a snowy owl, a lion, a lop-eared rabbit and a turtle.
For the nursery group: one animal per child
Buying for a whole group? The mini finger puppets give every child an animal of their own, and together there are enough for a finger rhyme with the whole group.
