Feathers are flying as Folkmanis introduces the funky chicken puppet. Guaranteed to be first in the pecking order, this chicken puppet is crazy-fun! Movable beak and two-handed wing design allow for endless combinations of clucking, strutting, scratching and flapping!
The domestic chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) descends from the red junglefowl of South-East Asia, domesticated several thousand years ago. Hundreds of breeds exist worldwide today, differing widely in plumage, size and comb shape. Within a flock, a strict social order forms, the origin of the phrase pecking order, settling disputes over food and roosting spots. The fleshy comb on the head also helps the bird shed excess body heat. Chickens are active by day and spend much of it scratching and foraging on the ground.
Did you know that chickens have remarkable vision capabilities and can see colors invisible to the human eye? They have better color perception than humans because they possess additional receptors for ultraviolet light.
